We assume that we all know who a great leader is, what leadership is, what leadership means. One of the things that I found fascinating from the 140 CEOs that I interviewed for my upcoming book, is that when I asked all of them to define leadership, they all defined it in a different way.
Would a leader of 2030 be that different than the leader of today? And if so, how?
What I uncovered from interviewing all these CEOs is that while some core things will remain the same like being able to create a vision and execute on a strategic direction, we will also need a new set of skills and mindsets. Why? Because we’re seeing things that are disrupting our organizations.
Technology, pace of change, automation, artificial intelligence, purpose, meaning and impact, transparency, authentic leadership, the very nature of talent and what it looks like, what they expect.
All these things are changing and it’s driving our organizations to need a new type of leader who can take on the challenge and guide us moving forward.
