Jeppe and his son Mees, where riding bikes on October 13, 2017 when a drunk driver plowed into them both. Jeppe was in a coma for over two months. The fact that they survived at all is an absolute miracle. Donate via the gofundme.com page "Make it possible for Jeppe’s family".
The car’s impact broke ribs, a shoulder, a shoulder blade, and Jeppe’s right leg (which is still broken and is needing to be reset). Mees and Jeppe experienced extreme impact to their heads and are not fully sure what the future holds for their brain injuries.
They need financial help, because despite the fact that the driver was drunk and fully responsible for these injuries, they are not getting money to help with recovery costs. . As such the bank will not lend money for much needed living improvements. Their current home, that Jeppe helped to rebuild himself is no longer suitable for them to stay in. They need funds upwards to $500,000 to help manage the needs of both Mees and Jeppe. Please do to the GoFundMe - campaign called "Make it Possible for Jeppe’s Family"
Because of their special needs and Jeppe’s inability to take care of the home as he once did, the family needs to find a new living situation fast.
Jeppe is the father of 5 children. His wife Lianda de Lange wears an artificial leg. When Lianda was 19, she was hit by a car and lost her leg from the knee down. When they met and married in 2013, Jeppe looked past her disability and only saw Lianda’s heart and soul.
I knew Jeppe during his courtship with his wife Lianda. I was in the Netherlands working at the regional mental health organization “Emergis”. I was there to train workers in the crisis intervention curriculum called “Response Protocol”. Jeppe’s zest for helping others specifically people in crisis and his use of the phrase “It is possible” in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles, made him a lead figure for promoting the use of verbal interventions over physical force.
Jeppe is a mental health worker who has devoted his career to helping people in need. Please consider contributing what you can and help “Make it possible” for the de Lange family to continue to move forward and heal.
