Pandemic, hot weather linked to increase in drownings

Preliminary data from the Lifesaving Society shows more drownings this year than last, particularly in B.C., Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec, and experts say it’s likely a combination of wanting to cool off during the hot weather and finding safe, outdoor activities because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
