The volcano Cumbre Vieja continues to destroy the surroundings of La Palma! Lava made it to the sea!

This Sunday is the first week since the beginning of the eruption of the volcano in Cumbre Vieja, on the island of La Palma. Around 3:10 p.m., after a strong explosion, several mouths were opened through which the volcano began to expel large amounts of lava. The big question, still a week later, is how long this situation can last.
After the first analyzes from the field, the experts pointed to a term between several weeks or even months. Vicente Soler, CSIC volcanologist consulted by AS, specifies that "no eruption on La Palma has lasted less than 24 days. If it lasts less, it would be the exception."
After a tense calm night on the island of La Palma, without major incidents, this morning the volcano again entered a more explosive phase. One of the casts, the last, advances at a speed of 30 meters per hour above the initial casting and the one with the longest run. In total there are already four simultaneous broadcast points and two casts.
In the last hours, the lava from the volcano had reduced its forward speed, after the collapse of a part of the volcanic cone reached about 200 or 300 meters per hour, explains the Government of the Canary Islands.
The airport is operational again and deformation decreases
After several hours in which the island’s airport was closed due to the ash cloud generated by the volcano, it has finally resumed activity today. However, there has still been no movement of flights at the facility.
