Hi, this episode is all about radio communication set-up for overlanders. Whether you are overlanding in a Land Rover Defender camper or with any other 4wd off-road camper, or also in a van, this video is for you!
You will learn what are all the different kind of communication devices available in expedition vehicle, what are their best use, & how to use them. Amateur radio but also, cb citizen band and different free license UHF low power models.
This will help you on how to choose the right radio communication devices for your daily use or maybe in a blackout situation in your bug out vehicle or off-grid truck.
I explain almost everything about: Talkie Walkie (FRS, GMRS, PMR 446), CB citizen band, & HAM RADIO or amateur radio (VHF, UHF, HF). Also about different modes like AM FM CW SSB Digital/analog.
A lot of very informative & useful content if you plan to go overland & still be able to keep in touch in any kind of situation. A quick info about radio antenna but also Q code, high frequency, long-range communication and propagation.
Be sure to stay until the end to learn how to tune properly the SWR (TOS in french) of a CB radio transceiver with its antenna.
We will then show you our radio communication set-up in our Land Rover Defender 110 :
-Yeasu 857D transceiver and Yaesu ATAS120 antenna, dual-band VHF/UHF diamond antenna
-CB president lincoln II with Firestik antenna
-Yaesu VX-7R portable radio
-Baofeng UV-5R portable radio

About Off-Track Family:
We are a family of 4 with 2 children. We are overlanding for years now on wild tracks in our Land Rover Defender 110.
Our expedition vehicle is a Land Rover Defender camper conversion. Some people say it’s more like a bug out vehicle but for us it’s the perfect 4wd off-road tourer with best 4x4 camping set-up.
We bought this 4wd rig brand-new in 2009 and the engine is the 2.4tdci Puma version. We transformed it time after time in a real overland 4x4 touring camper and it’s now a perfect off-grid truck for wild camping, bivouac or simply as an overlanding Defender.
We love enjoying time in nature and exploring the world as a family.
